| Actually it doesn't make a lick of sense. That may have been so with The X-files, but not this show. Even in the weekly monster hunts in season one; there was a main plot which drove it. The brothers wanted to find their father and each hunt was a clue towards reaching him. Soon on, until they meet up with him and the whole demon/colt thing came in. Season two was more based towards stopping Sam's abilities with a few weekly monster hunts thrown in, but mostly hunts that involved Azazeal somehow. Until they killed him and psychic kids and whatev. These two seasons focused mainly on weekly monster hunts. This ended in season three when it became about saving Dean from hell, Sam and Dean's reaction's to hell and this new "war". After introducing the war, it is impossible to return to the pleasant and simple storylines of season one. I mean this far in (season four) is so focused on the war and its effects. A few weekly monster hunts are okay, sure, but not every episode. To go to a simple shape-shifter (example) and try to make it cool this season is lame, we've been there before. With so much emphasis on the war and its effects and future, it's rather lame and, quite frankly, stupid to return to the simple aspects of season one. | |

| So you're saying that focusing an entire season on a singular storyline that each episode plays a part in, making it virtually impossible for people to get what's going unless they've seen the previous episodes in the season, wouldn't anger the fans and hurt ratings... like it did. | |

| Besides...they're still giving mention to the storyline and the whole war and angels thing. | |

| No, I'm saying that it's just stupid to keep going back to weekly monster hunts. I think that if indeed Sam and Dean were real people then they wouldn't be investigating wishing wells for god sakes. Not in the midst of this huge war. If they are doing weekly monster hunts, they should have them relate to the the main storyline. Like, "Are you there God? It's me Dean Winchester", in which there was a weekly monster hunt about ghosts (kinda) but it related to the angels, Lilith, and the war. More episodes like that. Wishing wells? Seriously!!? All it is is the writers doing whatever and I think that it will hurt the show if it continues. | |

| You're looking into it too much and you're expecting even more. Doing there "weekly hunts" is how they make a living; it's how they've made a difference really. It's only been two episodes Bryan, calm down. Tonight, they're going back to the whole war and angels deal so you can sleep well tonight okay? | |

| Not to mention that weekly monster hunts make it easier for new fans to transition and get a feel for the show. | |

| Most likely... unless the girl dies within 10mins of the start of the Supernatural ep, or Doomsday decides to use his powers to protect all the stray cats of Metropolis. | |
