Ghost Chasers
Episode One: “Pilot”INT. OUTSIDE- GRAVEYARDDEVON and GREG are sitting in two LAWN CHAIRS. GREG is holding a FLASHLIGHT and making it flicker. The camera panes into DEVON who is staring off into the distance. He turns to face the camera.
DEVON
Oh…Hello there. It appears as though you have stumbled upon greatness…greatness in the form of horror…horror in the form of ghosts….real ghosts, because they do exist! Now, if you are watching this DVD recording right now than that means I’m already dead-
GREG turns in confusion to face DEVON.
GREG
Dude…what the fuck?
DEVON
Oh yes…ha…sorry. Moving on.
GREG
As we said, if you are watching this video right now then that means you should prepare to be terrified.
DEVON
For the sights and scenes in this show may shock and compel you to watch more.
GREG
Erm…indeed, the following is regarded as something you may only find in your dreams
DEVON

GREG

Prepare for!
A MONTAGE of various clips of the investigators plays along with music and titles. Some stupid, some serious.
The shot fades into DEVON sitting alone on a porch, staring off into the distance. He turns dramatically.
DEVON
How did I get into ghost-chasing? Well, you could say that I was born to explore the nether-regions of the beyond…It all started when I was a boy. I used to have to get up and piddle a lot at night…I had an over-active bladder. Well, one night I arose to shake the little horse and heard noises…strange sounds of screams escaping from my parent’s bedroom. I heard all kinds of yelling and panting….I heard the sound of the bed slamming against the dry-wall. It was then I knew that my home was haunted by a terrible presence. Fro m then on…I knew that my destiny was calling…I had to search for answers.
The shot cuts to GREG who is in a bathroom with a plunger. He is wearing latex gloves and opens the toilet seat.
GREG
Why did I join the Ghost-Chasers? Well…it was really because of Devon that I started this whole thing. When he told me the horrible experience he had as a child, at first I was a skeptic. (Begins shoving the plunger into the toilet) Come on! Get in there! Anyway…after I came to grasp with the story he told me, Devon and myself began some research on ghost sightings in the area. We have committed ourselves to help preventing other small children from experiencing what Devon went through. (Continues plunging the toilet) Flush, you bastard!
The shot changes to JEROME who is sitting in a wooden chair, with a dimly lit room.
JEROME
Why did I become a Ghost-Chaser? Well, it all started when I was thirteen years of age. I was an emotionally troubled child, and the girls just weren't calling. I sat in my room for days just thinking and thinking and thinking, usually about various sexual exploits...but one day, the room became rather cold, and a woman's voice could be heard. Naturally, I tried to run, but I'd...uh...unfortunately wet myself and waz frozen to the bed. She then appeared and told me not to be afraid. She then kissed me...then she...she was gone. (emotional)
The only woman I ever loved...(gets a grip)
Ever since then, I've dedicated myself to paranormal investigating, so that I one day might be reunited with my love.
CAMERMAN
So, you got a chubby over a dead chick?
The Shot changes to NEW GUY who is outside in the street.
NEW GUY
Why did I join Ghost Chasers? Well basically…yeah I’m just sick of being a nobody! Everywhere I go, I’m just that guy that nobody bothers to get to know…or even acknowledge, it’s like I don’t exist! Am I not alive?? Do I not feel?? Do I not love?? Huh…..Well no more! The world will know my name and respect me damnitt! Everyone will know the name of!!!-
The shot changes to CLINT who is at a bowling alley.
CLINT
Why did I join the team?...Seriously, why did you make me restate the question…it’s so lame-
The scene cuts and then shows CLINT again in a different position.
CLINT
I joined the team because I want to prove that ghosts don’t fucking exist! They don’t-
The scene changed again and CLINT is still now outside, walking.
CLINT
Leave me alone! I don’t want to do your stupid interview Mittens! Get that fucking camera out of my face!!
CLINT shoves the cameraman and the camera falls, cutting the scene. The scene changes to a camera just sitting there, filming the wall of a house. ARTHUR moves in front of it and sets the camera up accordingly. He sits down and faces the camera.
ARTHUR
So, why did I join Ghost-Chasers? I don’t really know for sure. I know that the team needed a tech specialist and I was the only one they knew and that they could trust. It’s a shame; they probably don’t know what kind of technology their dealing with anyway. I could hand them a camera and tell them it’s an E.V.P. and they would believe me. Anyways, I’m not sure if they know my name. Each one has their own nickname for me, even the new guy. Mittens, Sheila, and Arnie are just a few that top the list. Other then that, everyone is pretty nice…except Clint.
Cut to - THE CASE, The entire gang is together at the headcounters.
DEVON
Welcome Ghost-Chasers! Welcome to our first official meeting, and our first official case.
GREG
I’m Greg, co-lead investigator
CLINT
Like that matters
DEVON
And I’m Devon, lead investigator. This here is Arnie, Tech-monger
ARTHUR
It’s Arthur and I’m “Tech-Manager”
CLINT
-Like that matters-
DEVON
(Pointing to New Guy)
And this is…..
NEW GUY
Oh! yes, my name is-
CLINT
LIKE IT MATTERS!
DEVON
Anywho, he’s our Tech Specialist/Investigator-in-training
ARTHUR walks to NEW GUY and puts his arm around him.
ARTHUR
(In “Yoda” voice)
My apprentice you are!
NEW GUY steps back from his grip.
NEW GUY
Okay…how about you never touch me again…yeah, then we’ll get along just swimmingly.
DEVON
Right, and our expert in all things paranormal..Gerom?...wait…am I saying this right?
JEROME
It’s Jerome. And yes…yes I am
CLINT
So, what makes you a paranormal expert, J-E-R-O-M-E
JEROME
I have seen things. I’ve had many different experiences with the paranormal…and who are you, may I ask?
CLINT
I’m Clint, investigator. And realist, and I’ve no doubt that you’re full of shi-
JEROME
Well, I never!
DEVON
Okay! Welcome back gang, now that we’re all acquainted, let’s discuss our first case.
GREG
Do lets. Over the last week I’ve been talking to various individuals throughout the area in search of a good investigation. I came across this.
GREG tosses a folder full of pictures and forms on the table in front of all the members.
DEVON
The Gerhardt Estate
GREG
Known to be haunted by the spirit of the late owner Adam Gerhardt
JEROME
How did said individual pass?
DEVON
Well, he was said to have died in his sleep from old age, natural causes…but maybe not
GREG
No...No he was very old, he did of natural causes
DEVON
Or did he?
GREG
No, he did, he did
DEVON
Fine, But anyways, the family of the deceased has reported some disturbances
GREG
Yeah all sorts of different sounds going on. Things get thrown all around and, yeah it’s not a nice place to be
NEW GUY
Do you think it’s a poltergeist?
DEVON
I don’t…I don’t know what that is. That’s a made-up thing, that’s a made-up word.
NEW GUY looks at DEVON like he’s an idiot. JEROME stirs impatiently.
JEROME
I’m not sure that this is the ideal location. Seems to me like this man wouldn’t have a reason to not cross over. Is there anywhere better?
GREG
Damnitt! Do you know how hard it was to even find this place?
DEVON
Yeah, it was either this or a pet cemetery
CLINT
You’ve got to be kidding me
JEROME
Fine
GREG
Good
JEROME
Great
DEVON
Excellent-ay
ARTHUR
Okay…Now Devon, we should probably get going now-
DEVON
No, you don’t call me that. To you all I’m “Oh Captain” and you will refer to me as such.
The shot cuts to a van where the crew is riding in. The van pulls up to a large house and the crew begins to step out.
DEVON
Welcome Chasers to the Gerhardt house! Prepare for our first investigation!
GREG
Right, guys let’s try to be professional and have everything go smoothly.
DEVON
Archie! You educate Clint and the new guy up on our equipment.
ARTHUR
Yes
DEVON
Yes what?
ARTHUR
Yes Captain
DEVON
It’s “Oh Captain my Captain” to you
CLINT
Oh god
DEVON
Greg, you, Jerome, and the camera-man will come with me and we’ll get the low-down about the house. Sound beuno to everybody?
ARTHUR
Yeah, Clint and…what was your name again?
NEW GUY
Oh, sorry. I guess I forgot to “formally” introduce myself, my name is-
CLINT
HELLO? Tech-wizard, let’s make with the equipment
ARTHUR
Of course
.
DEVON, GREG, and JEROME head to the door while the other hang back by the car. DEVON knocks on the door and wait till a woman answers, she lets them inside.
WOMAN
Hello there…wait can I do for you guys?
DEVON
Hello mam…I’m Devon, from the Ghost-Chasers
WOMAN
The what?
GREG
The ghost investigation team?...you said we could come and investigate in your house
WOMAN
Oh right, yeah come inside.
JEROME
An interesting location
DEVON
Right, now Mam it’d be great if you could show us where all the weird things are happening
WOMAN
Oh…well if you’d just follow me upstairs.
Scene cuts to NEW GUY standing up against the side of the van, next to CLINT.
NEW GUY
So...basically that’s why my family can never go back to Morocco again.
CLINT
(interested)
No fucking way…
Scene cuts to the group in the bathroom of the house. Where the group is standing around the toilet which is flushing.
DEVON
So he flushed a whole loaf of bread down there?
WOMAN
I suppose that could explain why it makes those awful noises.
JEROME
Have you ever found any remaining ectoplasm from the spiritually encounters in this room?
Shot cuts to the group outside. ARTHUR is showing NEW GUY a camera.
ARTHUR
So basically, it’s just your traditional hand-held digital-8 camcorder, not like a mini-DV camcorder…you know?
NEW GUY
Yeah…sure…why not
CLINT
We know how to operate a camera genius! You’ve shown us nothing but cameras and tape-recorders…anything else?
ARTHUR
Actually Clint that was a digital-recorder I showed you, the tape-recorder is a rarely used product now, much like the VCR it disappeared once-
CLINT
Jesus! Do you think we care about your geek-talk?
ARTHUR
Hey! This is important information that you will need if we are to do our investigation properly
CLINT
I got some information for you if you don’t shut up!
Scene switches to the group inside who is walking up a set of stairs.
JEROME
So you often hear as though someone is walking up these very stairs?
WOMAN
Occasionally, There are also sounds of banging’s and sometimes we hear moans
GREG
Anything else?
WOMAN
Well sometimes we hear dog barking
DEVON
Do you own a dog?
WOMAN
Yes, why do you ask?
SCENE cuts to the entire group who is outside by the van.
DEVON
Alright, so we’ll start with Greg, Clint, and I investigating the upstairs.
GREG
New Guy, and Jerome you guys can spread out down-stairs and investigate.
DEVON
Then we’ll all meet back in about an hour and switch it up.
GREG
Arthur, you stay and watch the monitors
ARTHUR
What monitors?
GREG
The ones that we’re about to set up inside the main four rooms that are considered haunted.
DEVON
Cue the montage!
Cut to- a montage of clips of the group setting up camera and extension cords and preparing the van. The clip ends and shows the group about enter the house. THE INVESTIGATION begins.
